The very scarce DJ is price clipped and has edgewear and minor tears and chips. No fading however and this volume presents very nicely in mylar. Has the publisher's emblem on the copyright page. Beston has inscribed this book on the half title page: "For ....with the friendliest good wishes of their ship mate at Los Luceros, "H. B." Henry Beston". A small portion of the very bottom of the signature page has been neatly cut out, but the writing of Beston and his signature are not affected. Foxing to all three outer edges, neat previous owner stamps on the half-title page and the next blank.

Title page illlustrations from a woodcut by Hope Nash. The DJ states Twelfth Printing on the front flap. Beston writes "Signed for ----------- with the compliments and warm good wishes of an old family friend, Henry Beston" on the front endpaper. The DJ which is unclilpped has a closed tear to the front cover, slight wear at the DJ spine ends, the books has green boards with gilt spine lettering. Very Scarce signed.

"The Outermost House, a year of life on the great beach of Cape Cod, by Henry Beston." Illustrations and photos by William Bradford. Sea gulls on green illustrated endpapers, stated 7th printing on the flap of the DJ.No internal marks or imprints. The bottom edge is uncut, the topedge is trimmed. 31 photos by the illustrator and others, including the frontispiece. Still has the original blue binding with gilt lettering, brightly showing on the front cover. The DJ (designed by Edward A. Wilson) has edgewear and erosion to the spine and is price clipped. Some foxing to the title page. Great alternative to the almost unattainable first edition in DJ.

This edition dated 1931, lists the author's other works on the back of the half-title page. Very clean, no internal marks or writing. Gilt cover lettering, the spine is a bit faded. The spine ends are bumped as are the corners. A very collectible volume, and a nice alternative to the pricey true first.

A childrens' book for readers age 6-10.
