The very scarce DJ is price clipped and has edgewear and minor tears and chips. No fading however and this volume presents very nicely in mylar. Has the publisher's emblem on the copyright page. Beston has inscribed this book on the half title page: "For ....with the friendliest good wishes of their ship mate at Los Luceros, "H. B." Henry Beston". A small portion of the very bottom of the signature page has been neatly cut out, but the writing of Beston and his signature are not affected. Foxing to all three outer edges, neat previous owner stamps on the half-title page and the next blank.

New York Doubleday Doran 1931 Later Printing Hard Cover Good No Jacket 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall William Bradford 
"The Outermost House, a year of life on the great beach of Cape Cod, by Henry Beston." Illustrations and photos by William Bradford, and others. This edition dated 1930, (the true first is from 1928) lists the author's other works on the back of the half-title page. Previous owner name neatly on the front endpaper, as are a small price sticker and bookstore ticket. The spine lettering is darkened. The spine ends are bumped and there is a bit of spotting to the covers. The top edges are cut, the others are still rough. A very collectible volume, and a nice alternative to the pricey true first.

The DJ is price clipped, "Third Large Printing" noted on the flap. Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "Very faithfully yours, Henry Beston" and below "Day of the Rocket" is written in Beston's hand. The signature page has some blots of ink from apparently the same pen, not affecting the signature or inscription. This is part of The Rivers of America Series, Beston was most famous for The Outermost House.

Large chip to the base of the DJ spine end, small chips and wear all around. Seldom seen in the DJ, which presents nicely in the mylar protective cover. Green cloth boards with red lettering on the cover and spine. Bright green endpapers, no internal marks or writing. Little known book by the naturalist and author of The Outermost House. A childrens' book for readers age 6-10.
